On June 3rd, Grammy Award-winning artist Paula Cole joined Sandy Hook Promise and Artist For Action at the Champions Gala in Washington, D.C., lending her voice to the growing movement to end gun violence. Performing alongside Mark Barden—musician, advocate, and co-founder of both organizations—Cole delivered a powerful set that included her intergenerational anthem “I Don’t Want to Wait.”

The evening featured special guests including U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Sandy Hook Promise Co-Founder/Co-CEO Nicole Hockley, spotlighting the organization’s mission to prevent tragedies like the one that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. Paula’s performance was a reminder that music and advocacy go hand in hand—and that artists have a role to play in shaping a safer future.

Sandy Hook Promise’s evidence-based programs have reached over 35 million people and directly prevented more than 1,000 suicides and 18 planned school shootings. But there is much more work to be done. The time time to act is now.
